Castagna Consulting Group Performed site evaluation of identified land for new Essential Service Facilities including Police and Ambulance Facilities. Analysis included best and most economical use of site, proximity to town center, neighborhood environment, zoning, 20 year growth master plan, preliminary design and detailed budget to be put on referendum ballot for town vote. The police station was approved in 2005 and built in 2006.
It was determined that the Garden Street School could not be renovated because of the stringent essential building codes for police stations. Because of the age and construction of Garden Street School, it would require extensive renovations and it would be better to start over. It would very costly to add the framework it would need. The project was based on a design that provides a facility that is projected for twenty years of growth of the Town and police operations.
